UPCOMING EVENTS AND DEADLINES: 18 May 2003 No general meeting 20 May 2003 Hard & Soft A&S. GENEVIEVE will be visiting from England and will be there to see people. 31 May 2003 Bid(s) for Spring 2004 Coronation 25 May 2003 Heraldry 2:30-4:00 DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1. ANGHARAD's bid was the only one received for Hare. Detailed bid not in place pending confirmation of site and food budget, but it will be happening and will be posted as soon as the details are in place. 2. ANGHARAD mentioned that she needs a secretary to take notes at the meetings. It is difficult to take detailed notes and to chair a meeting efficiently. Gabrielle has offered to take the position, but would like "backup" volunteers for the days that she cannot attend. 3. There was a suggestion that we should issue an invitation to see who would like to help at events. The suggestion was to send an open invitation to participate down the list. This would include Autocrats, anyone who wants to volunteer for other positions and site suggestions. 4. If anyone is interested in submitting a bid for Coronation they should express their intent by the 31st of May. If no one has submitted a bid by that date, it will be organized by committee. 5. There was the suggestion of a web page announcing upcoming events as well as a link to forms that could be filled out if they are interested in volunteering to help at an event. ANGHARAD will discuss this with LUCIA. 6. ELEANOR offered to be the General Info Officer if ANGHARAD would like someone to help answering general questions about the Canton. 7. This is an off week for Scriptorium and Hard and Soft A&S. 8. GENEVIEVE will be at the Hard & Soft A&S 20 May 2003. If you are interested in visiting with her, bring along a project and come chat. 9. Newcomer Symposium was well attended. Numerous questions were answered as well as a brief presentation about clothing by CRISTABELL. Newcomers found it a bit overwhelming. It was suggested this be repeated at least once a year. It was further suggested that sessions focusing on specific areas be held throughout the year to make the information less overpowering. 10. DUBH and GEOFFROI will be autocratting Autocrat's Day Off. GEOFFROI is looking into dates at the present time. The dates will be sent down the list as soon as they are confirmed. AROUND THE ROOM ITEMS: 1. DUBH - 25 May 2003 there will be a presentation on Heraldry. You can participate at your own level. There will also be paints there for anyone who has already decided on their heraldry. 2. GINA - Bardic group meets the first Wednesday at their house. The next A&S will be trying out their hand at soap-making. They also have plans for the future to try paper-making. 3. RICHARD - He has been making Banner poles and is selling them for $30. This month Early English Country is being taught from 7:00 to 8:00 followed by requests from 8:00 to 9:00. The fourth week there will be a mini ball. Put on your fancy garb and come dance with us. 5. WILHELM - Fencing waivers were given to ANGHARAD 6. TSIVIA - would like to hold an event called "It's Music to the Ears". It would involve the different types of SCA music as well as Fighting and Fencing. It was suggested that this might be a good Practicum. 7. The favours need to be completed by Murder Melee. Help in any capacity would be greatly appreciated. Gifts are needed to give to the Royals at Pennsic.
