Canton Meeting Notes 13 April 2003 Comments or questions should be directed to ANGHARAD or the person identified as the contact in the notes. ATTENDEES: Menken, Eleanor, Cristabell, Wilhelm, Rhodri, May, Archibald, Aelflaeda, Angharad (Chair) DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1. Just a Feast: - nice event - a "truly medieval experience" - lots of new people. A reasonably good turnout. - lots of food, both meat dishes and vegetarian - may have been too much food for the number of attendees. The weather may have been a factor in keeping numbers down. - need to review the balance sheet. It is possible that $25/plate is too steep for most people. - it is possible to maintain the medieval "feel" without spending so much. Some suggestions were: décor, covering modern items, entertainment, timing/pacing. - this probably should not be a regular event. Better to keep it "fresh" - as a novelty. 2. Recent event in Potsdam: - it is nearby with a quick border crossing - recent event was small. Conflicted with East Coronation - "young" group, friendly, enjoy outside visitors - great class line-up at recent event - event had a buffet, good feast, bar - MENKEN won a tourney prize for "Best Bruise" 3. General notices: - Hare is on the Calendar - Practicum still needs to be booked. Contact Calendar Secretary - Bids for Coronation in April 2004 coming due. Caldrithig's turn to bid. Deadline is July. - Baronial Rapier Champion to be chosen at Dandelion Festival. AROUND THE ROOM ITEMS: 1. CRISTABELL - the Chatelaine's office would like to require a refundable $20 deposit on loaner garb to encourage prompt return of garb. After some discussion it was decided unanimously that $20 is probably excessive and that $10 is a more reasonable amount. 2. ELEANOR - there will be an Executive Meeting at B&B 3. MAY will be going to Greyfells (Kingston) to attend Queen's University in the Fall 4. ARCHIBALD will be moving to Greyfells (Kingston) between the 28-30 April. He has muslin fabric for sale. 1
