Canton of Caldrithig Meeting Notes 13 July, 2003 Comments or questions should be directed to ANGHARAD or the person identified as the contact in the notes. ATTENDEES: Ansfrid, Helen, Angharad (CHAIR), Rhodri, Phil, Skye and son Edward, Judith, Anne, Stephin, Menken, Kes DISCUSSION ITEMS: 1. Report on Autocrat's Day Off: Weather was beautiful, lots of fun, lots of food. Wassail to DUBH and GEOFFROI to a wonderful event. 2. Baronial Muster: Next weekend (July 18-20) is Baronial Muster. There will be the Baronial championship tournament. Rapier is being organized. There will be an archery range. There will be a feast (as of the meeting there were 10 seats left). NOTE: Bring all your own water. There is no water available on site. THERE WILL BE A ROUND TABLE BEFORE FEAST. ALL ROUND TABLE AGENDA ITEMS ARE TO BE SENT TO OUEN. 3. ANGHARAD announced a new meeting format. She asking that a representative from all activities of the previous week give a verbal status report. a. Fighting had about 10-12 fighters on Wednesday. Fight practice is on for July but is cancelled for the first 3 weeks of August. It will resume the Wednesday before Bonfield weekend. b. Dancing had about 8 dancers which is a low average. Dance practice is from 7 to 9 at the Sandy Hill Community Centre. c. Thursday fencing practice had 6-8 people in armour plus other visitors. Sunday fencing practice about 8-9 people in armour with an impromptu singing. (more later) Ron Mallet, the local fencing supplier dropped in on Thursday and sold several face masks. d. A&S - ELEANOR noted that 8 people came to "Hard and Soft". More Baronial favours were completed. Activities included: sewing, heraldry (painting escutcheons, book research), armouring, new people trying on costumes. - ANNE said now that SIGLINDE is back, Friday night A&S will be starting again. Contact ANNE for A&S during Pennsic. - West end A&S attendance is varied but they have a core group of 5-6 that meets regularly. Some nights, the format is freestyle; other nights are themed. - Bardic is the 1st Wednesday of the month. ISABELLA is writing stories and Doubh is writing poetry. - Scriptorium is every 2 weeks at ANGHARAD'S. Attendance is sporadic. One person actually comes from Kingston occasionally. The canton is desperate for calligraphers. NOTE: Allergy alert of cats and dog. AROUND THE ROOM: 1. HELEN said that at this week's Sunday fencing practice there was an impromptu singing group. If anyone is interested in "pickup" singing, i.e. not organized, come to Jack Purcell between 1 and 3 on Sundays. 2. ELEANOR announced that this is an on-week for A&S. They will be making banner stands which take about 15-30 minutes to assemble. Contact ELEANOR for details. 3. PHIL had a technical request to reach the Caldrithig directory. ANGHARAD responded. 4. ANNE said that this week's Friday A&S will be at ANNE & STEPHIN'S. 5. Reminder that the Aquitaine is going to Muster and will need help to be erected. 6. This is an on week for Scriptorium.
