The notes of the previous meeting were distributed for review. MAY noted that her name was spelled incorrectly. There were no other changes. 2. It was noted that the Canton Marshall position is open. The deadline for applications is Practicum and there is currently one applicant. The Doomsday report for the fighters has been completed and submitted. 3. Canton Web Minister position is open. The deadline for application is February 8, 2003. 4. The Canton Pursuivant and Chatelaine application deadlines have passed. Applications have been received and will be confirmed by the Canton Executive. The decision is expected some time this week. 5. OUEN noted that the Baronial Web Minister and Chatelaine positions were still open, with deadlines of February 8, 2003 and February 22, 2003 respectively. There was some discussion regarding the Canton and Baronial positions. It was noted that greater response might be elicited to requests for application if descriptions of the positions were included in the call. OUEN noted that, for future Baronial positions, this information would be included. 6. There was discussion about Feast of the Hare bids, the deadline for which was supposed to be this meeting. It was decided that, due to the low attendance at the meeting the decision should be tabled to the next meeting. After some discussion, it was noted that perhaps splitting the Hare bids between bids for sites and bids to run the event might elicit more applications. 7. CECILIA reported from the Canton Twelfth Night Party. There were approximately 30 people in attendance, all of whom had a good time. People enjoyed attending an event where everyone could talk to everyone. The event made $85 and cost $250, so there was a loss. It was noted that the group had approved the event with the understanding that a loss was a possibility. 8. CRISTABELL reported on the "Murder in the Cathedral" Demo. The demo went great: the play not so much. Eleven people attended: Iudith, Anne, Angharad, May, Wilhelm, Cristabell, Cecilia, Even, Enid, Henry, Gabrielle and Kathy. CRISTABELL thanked the people who attended. WILHELM noted that the only flyers he could find were in French. There was discussion about updating our publicity. 9. ANNE noted that she is no longer Chronicler. She distributed the last Chronicle done under her editorship - singing "Halleluia" as she did. 10. GEOFFROI forwarded his greetings. He indicated that article and cover art submissions are very welcome/necessary. He also encouraged people to subscribe to the Chronicle. 11. CECILIA noted that next Sundays' SCA Day topic was "Taming of the Shrew". ARCHIBALD is looking for copies of the play. The first aid course has been put on hold. 12. CECILIA noted that the topic for the SCA Day on February 16, 2003 was Dancing, focusing on dances with triplets rather than pairs. 13. WILHELM asked for volunteers for the Parade of the Vanities at Practicum. 14. DUBHEASE noted that GEOFFROI cannot be at Practicum because his work is sending him to Castel Rouge. 15. It was noted that the Practicum website will be up soon. 16. Volunteers were requested for the Anxiety Ball. 17. IUDITH requested that the discussion about the Quartermaster position (deputy of Exchequer) be put into the minutes to be discussed at a future meeting. The meeting then adjourned. Respectfully submitted, Ouen de St-Helier Canton Secretary Canton of Caldrithig Meeting Notes - 26 January 2003 1
